Catching Fire!

November 23, 2013

Yesterday, I went to see Catching Fire with some f my closest friends. I have loved The Hunger Games triology for a while now, and after waiting over a year since the first film, it was finally the release of Catching Fire. I have to say, because I loved the books so much, I had very high expectations for the films, and the first one was great, there were a few parts that they missed out though (the significance of the Mockingjay pin?!), but I was very excited for Catching Fire, none the less.

It was fabulous. It completely exceeded my expectations. It such pretty close to the book, there were a few minor changes, but nothing massive, nothing big enough to make me like the film any less. This might be the first movie ever, that i've thought has been better than the books. (yes, it is that good.) Jennifer, Josh and Liam (Katniss, Peeta and Gale, i'm sure you know that though) were great, just as great as they were in The Hunger Games, but for me, the real stars were Sam Claflin, who plays Finnick, and Jena Malone, who plays Johanna. They were exactly as I pictured these two characters to be. They both portrayed them brilliantly. I don't think there could be any two actors who would fit these parts any better than this duo did. (and they are both so beautiful!)

This isn't a review, this is just a blog post purely to talk about the film. It was long (around two and a half hours!) but it didn't feel too long, which is always great. I found myself not wanting the film t end, and when it did, I was very sad.
Oh, and if you cried at the first movie, then get your hankies at the ready, as this film is quite a lot more upsetting! I don't want to put any spoilers in here, but if you've read the books/seen the films, you'll know what I mean when I say District 11, Mags and Cinna. Heartbreaking.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed, and I would encourage everyone to see this film (best film of 2013 by far!) and if you have already, and want to talk about it, leave me a comment, or tweet me (@youfounderin), or even email me (erindocherty3@gmail.com), I would love to hear what you all thought of the film!
