TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray || Review

20:27:00

I feel like I haven't done a hair product review in ages (it has been a while..) but I have a great one for you today!
I have a confession. I rarely use heat spray, I know I should, but I would always forget, and when I finished up my last bottle, I just never repurchased one, this was well over a year ago. I do't use a lot of heat on my hair, but it''s still good to have, right?

I actually wasn't in Boots purposely looking for a heat spray, I was just browsing, as I do often, when I came across this little bottle in the hair section, at a promotional price of £3! It was then that I thought about how little I used heat protectant (never), and i'd heard so many good reviews about this product, so I thought I needed to buy it, and but it is what I did.

And what a good choice that was! I love it! I use it every time after I shower, and I use it before I use heat on my hair.
First thing's first, the packaging. I love it! I love red and black together, and the hint of gold is just gorgeous. I'm a fan of simplicity, and this is perfect. Another thing is the smell. I really like it, it smells very similar to most TRESemme products, and I know that the smell isn't' for everyone, but I think that it is pleasant.
When I applied the product to dry hair, it left my hair looking really shiny, which it claims to do, as it says on the front "for heat protection and salon shine", so I definitely agree with the latter. As for how much protection it gives from heat, I can't really comment on that, as the results tend not to be visible, but I just trust that it's doing its job!
It sprays a decent amount of product as well, not too much, not to little. I spray a liberal amount of it all over my head, but concentrating on the ends, as that's where I put heat on most, and brush it through with a Tangle Teaser to evenly distribute it through my hair.

The product claims to "transform hair to be smoother, straighter, and easier to style.... each product reduces frizz and leaves hair gorgeously sleek and manageable... Gentle enough for colour treated hair."
I already mentioned the shine, but as for the rest.. I wouldn't say that it was drastically easier to style, but there was definitely a difference. I don't think it straightened my hair at all, but I don't mind abut that. It definitely reduces frizz, and leaves my hair sleek and manageable.
One thing I was worried about was if it was suitable for dyed hair,as I have bleach in the ends of my hair, for my ombre. However, I think it works fine with coloured hair, which is always a plus!
One little comment I have to make is the instructions.. they say to spray it on damp hair, but I find that there is more of an effect when sprayed onto dry hair, so i'm not sure why it doesn't say for damp or dry hair?

So lets summarize..

PROS

  • Left my hair looking very shiny when applied to dry hair
  • Smell is like all TRESemme products, which I like
  • The packaging is gorgeous in my opinion.
  • The amount the product sprays is good.
  • Did leave hair feeling (slightly) easier to manage.
  • Works fine on coloured hair.
CONS
  • Product is supposed to be used on damp hair, but I find that it works better on dry hair.
  • Doesn't straighten hair at all, like it claims.

And that's the review! Happy blogmas day 5! Have any of you tried this product? What were your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below, or tweet me (@youfounderin) or email me (erindocherty3@gmail.com)
